We will pick you up at our meeting point,and from there we will begin the route towards Asturias. Our tour will last about two and a half hours, accompanied by impressive landscapes between the Cantabrian Sea, several Cantabrian and Asturian towns and the Picos de Europa national park.

 

Arrived at the lakes vWe will visit the surroundings of the famous lakes of Enol and Ercina. Here we will take a 45-minute guided tour in which the guide will explain the history, details of the landscape, as well as the flora and fauna of the park. Later we will have approximately one hour free to walk around the surroundings, enjoy nature, the mountain landscape, take some photos or have a drink.

 

After visiting the lakes, we will go down to the Sanctuary of Covadongawhose entrance is guarded by two large Carrara marble lions, replicas of the Italian sculptor Antonio Canova. AlsoWe will visit the majestic neo-Romanesque Basilica built with stones extracted from the mountains that surround it, andWe will enjoy free time to visit the Holy Cave or the cave ofSantina. Here we will learn about the history of the reconquest and the history of King Don Pelayo, whose tomb is located on one side of the cave.

 

After visiting this imposing sanctuary, we will go to Cangas de Onís, this charming town welcomes us with its famous Roman bridge, from where hangs the famous Victory Cross, a symbol of Asturias and the reconquest.In Cangas we will have free time to taste the rich Asturian gastronomy, and then take a guided walk through the town.

 

FinallyWe will return to Santander in the middle of the afternoon after having enjoyed this endearing day surrounded by the impressive mountains of the Picos de Europa.  It will be a complete, intense and enriching excursion, suitable for all ages and ideal for families.

  • This tour is not operated by Exploring Cantabria, but by another partner provider. The activity is by bus and has a fixed pick-up point in Santander (next to the Maritime Station).

  • In the event of closure of the Lakes of Covadonga due to force majeure, an alternative plan is offered at a nearby point of interest.

  • There is space to store strollers on the bus but it does not have chairs or booster seats.

  • This is a recommended excursion for all ages.

  • You must be at the meeting point at least 15 minutes before the departure time.

  • A minimum of 10 participants is required for the excursion to take place. The company reserves the right to cancel the trip if the group does not reach the minimum number of participants or if weather conditions are unfavorable. In such cases, you will be offered the option of a full refund or a change of tour date.

  • You can cancel this booking free of charge up to 48 hours before the start of the tour.
