TOUR DESCRIPTION
In this afternoon-evening experience, we are going to enter the galleries of one of the mines in the Udias area. This area was once the largest lead and zinc exploitation in Cantabria.
We will pick you up at your hotel in Santander or Torrelavega and we will travel to Udías. There we will equip you with a suit, boots and a helmet with a flashlight to take an unforgettable walking tour through the main natural galleries and mining tunnels of one of the caves in the area. In fact, we will give you the possibility to chooses between several routes of different levels and equal beauty, starting with the simplest route that is suitable for children as from five years of age.
The experience will last 1.5 hours in which, accompanied by a professional caver, we will tour the dark galleries that the miners drew and toured daily in search of the precious mineral until 1932, when the mine closed. We will also learn about the history of this mining area, the use of the minerals they extracted and what the work of the miners was like. A day to day of hard work in which everyone worked (men, women and children), but thanks to which many families were able to survive, despite the harsh and precarious working conditions.
After finishing the route and leaving the cave, it already will be dark, so the sensation of going out into the open sky under the stars will be curious.
Finally, we will change our clothing at the departure base and we will enjoy there a picnic with soda before resuming our trip back to Santander, Santillana del Mar or Torrelavega .

The minimum age to participate in this experience is 5 years old.
You must be at the meeting point at least 5 minutes before departure time.
For the excursion to take place, there must be a minimum of 4 registered. The company reserves the right to cancel the departure if the group does not reach the minimum number of participants. In such case, you would be given the option of a full refund or change of tour date.
For groups of at least 4 people we can do this excursion on other days outside the program. Always subject to availability and keeping the tour open to other reservations.
